Background

The peace prayers, as well as the days offering free admission and guided tours, take place at the Castle Church as part of World Heritage Month in October.
The Castle Church uniquely bridges the past and the present. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, it invites visitors to explore the origins of the Reformation. Together with the Protestant Preachers' Seminary and the Research Library for Reformation History, it remains a vibrant center for the study of the Reformation and Protestant cultural history to this day.

Founded in 1816/17, the Wittenberg Protestant Preachers' Seminary has been training theologians for ministry—serving both Word and Sacrament—at the very birthplace of the Reformation for 210 years. It operates as a dependent institution of the UEK (Union of Protestant Churches). In the seminary’s educational work, the Evangelical Church of Anhalt, the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia, the Evangelical Church in Central Germany, and the EKU Foundation collaborate to keep the theological legacy of Luther, Melanchthon, and Bugenhagen alive and to strengthen Wittenberg’s ecumenical influence.
